After studying communications in Boston, Karen O Lau found
herself in Pasadena, CA studying design. It was during a crossover
class with students from Caltech that she felt she could use
her background to communicate science and space exploration.
During her stay at Caltech, she created two public service
announcements for a NASA competition where she and her film
partner received a Creativity Award, one of which is currently
being broadcast nationally. Through this combination of art
and science, Karen has truly found her passion. She is fascinated
by the unknown workings of our universe and the quest to understand
it. This has lead her to design work that blends space, science
and education.
Always hungry to learn, Karen can often be found sitting
in astrophysics lectures without a clue of comprehension.
Her persistent theory in absorption through osmosis has yet
to be proven. With bachelor degrees from Boston University
and the Art Center College of Design, she’s thinking
about yet another; a graduate degree in industrial design,
human factors and education.
She currently resides in Los Angeles, but often visits her
family in Queens, NY.
